Uniform Policy

School uniforms help create a sense of unity and belonging. When students wear the same attire, they are reminded that they are part of something larger than themselves—a community rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and Christian fellowship. Uniforms help minimize distractions, reduce social pressures related to fashion and appearance, and allow students to focus on what matters most: learning, serving others, and developing their God-given gifts.

Adherence to the uniform policy also teaches important life skills such as responsibility, accountability, and respect for expectations. Students learn that being part of a community comes with responsibilities and shared commitments.

Our uniform represents the school and the values we strive to uphold each day. By wearing it properly and consistently, students demonstrate pride in their school, respect for themselves and others, and a commitment to the standards that help our community thrive.

We ask families to support the uniform policy as a partnership between home and school. Together, we can help our students understand that the uniform is not simply a set of clothing requirements, but a visible expression of the dignity, unity, and excellence we seek to cultivate in our Catholic school community.

Uniform Suppliers

Uniform Purchase Lands’ End Uniforms or Schoolbelles Uniforms are the official supplier of uniforms for St. Juliana School. Parents are required to purchase the sweatshirts, sweaters, and fleece with the school logo at Lands’ End Uniforms or Schoolbelles Uniforms.

The girls’ jumpers, skirts, or skorts are also purchased at Schoolbelles Uniform Lands’ End Uniforms or Schoolbelles Uniforms.

Uniform Violations

The age of the student and the particular uniform violation will determine the consequence. The faculty reserves their right to determine uniform violations.

● Grade K-3- In most instances, students in K-3 will receive a verbal warning for the first infraction of a minor nature, such as wearing socks of an inappropriate color. Parents will be contacted if a second violation of the same nature occurs. In addition, a parent/guardian may be called to school to bring the child home to correct the uniform violation. Repeated disregard of uniform regulations will result in disciplinary action, such as exclusion from participating in special activities/events.

● Grade 4-8- Once a student enters Gr. 4 s/he is able to make a conscious choice regarding responsibility for uniform requirements. Therefore, in most instances, uniform violations will be subject to immediate disciplinary action (i.e. detention). When uniform violations are considered severe or repeated, the student is subjected to other disciplinary actions, including, but not limited to, exclusion from participation in special activities, extra-curricular sports, and suspension from school.

Hairstyles/Makeup/Jewelry:

Hairstyles must be age and school appropriate, reflective of good grooming. Hair dyeing, tinting, or streaks are not allowed. The faculty reserves the right to determine whether a hairstyle is appropriate. Girls are not allowed to wear makeup or dangling earrings. Only one earring per ear is permitted- worn in the lobe, not the cartilage. Wearing expensive jewelry is not recommended. School personnel will not be responsible for lost 51 or damaged jewelry worn by students. Appropriate attire must be worn on Out of Uniform Days. Tank tops, spaghetti straps, short shorts are not permitted on out of uniform days. If leggings are worn, the shirt/top must cover the buttocks. Boys: Boys haircuts need to be traditional and appropriately outlined. Hair must be above the ear on the sides, above the eyebrow in the front and above the shirt collar in the back. Hair dyeing is not allowed. Tails, mousses, etc. are not acceptable for school. Boys are not allowed to wear earrings while they are at school. Colored tshirts should not be worn under shirts. Appropriate attire must be worn on Out of Uniform Days. Boys and Girls: Students’ hair may not cover their eyes or face, as this impairs their ability to learn.

Out of Uniform Days

There are days during the school year when students are not required to be in uniform. These non-uniform days fall into four categories:

● Birthdays: On the day of a child’s birthday, s/he may come to school out of uniform. For birthdays which occur over the weekend or on school holidays, the student has the option of choosing the day before or after the actual birthday. For birthdays which occur during the summer recess, the student will celebrate the half-birthday.

● All-school Out of Uniform Days: The school will sometimes declare a no uniform day in conjunction with a Student Council sponsored event or because of a holiday observance or celebration.

● Spirit Days: A number of days will be designated as “School Spirit Days.” On these days instead of wearing the regular school uniform, students may wear any clothing that bears the St. Juliana School or Trojan logo. (i.e. gym uniform, St. Juliana sports team apparel.)
